Hi
I have been home brewing beer for about 15 years and feel that I am now ready to graduate on to distilling. I'm hoping it will be an easier start than most because I already have a sound knowledge of mashing and fermenting and a lot of the equipment. I have purchased a T500 column because it seems relatively simple for a beginner to operate and it fits on to my Grainfather G30 that I already own - a nice, cheap way to get started in a new hobby.
So far I have only done a couple of stripping runs on sugar washes. I plan to start off with gins, mainly because they seem to be less complicated and quicker to make than many of the other spirits (and because Mrs. Spook like gin). I may then move on to fruit brandies and rums once I have some confidence.
I have been lurking around this forum for a while and it has been very helpful in getting me started so thanks to everyone here. Hopefully I will learn enough to be able to give back some day.
Cheers!
