Hours: Full time (40+ hours but availability to be flexible)
Pay: Based on experience and very competitive
Reports to: Lead Brewer / Head Brewer / Dir. of BreweryOps
Overview: Mason Jar Lager Company is growing, and we are looking to add to our team. We are seeking an experienced brewer to join our team at our Lager-only brewery and taproom in Fuquay-Varina, NC as well as our other brewery projects slated for opening later this year. We work in a cross-trained and rotating environment - everyone brews, cellars, and packages. Everyone cleans kegs. We brew with a 30 bbl ABS brewhouse. We maintain a cellar of (6) 30 bbl FVs, (2) 60 bbl FVs, (2) 90 bbl FVs, and (1) 30 bbl BT. We also own and operate a 55 CPM Alpha canning line. We are looking for an experienced brewer who has an unwavering commitment to quality, extremely high attention to detail, continuous improvement, and a can-do/hard-working attitude and drive. Minimum of two years of working in a production brewery as an assistant brewer or brewer is required. This position requires the flexibility to assist where needed and will provide many growth opportunities. We are a small and agile team. Entry-level candidates will be considered.
An example of duties & responsibilities (but not limited to):Brewing: Ability to produce wort from a recipe following SOP in a timely, accurate, and safe manner.
Cellar Operations: Cellar CIP, yeast management, barrel cleaning, transfers, blending, etc.Cleaning, a lot of cleaning! Must be obsessed with low DO and have extreme attention to detail and clean everything constantly.
Lab Assistance: Lab basics are a strong plus.Packaging: Assist as needed with packaging including canning and kegging (everyone cleans kegs, everyone is on the canning line!).Record Keeping: Detailed records of all work performed. Neat legible handwriting and basic computer literacy is required.
Preventive Maintenance: Assist as needed with the preventive maintenance of all brewery equipment.
Attributes: Positive outlook and attitude, with the ability to think on your feet. Ability to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, and some holidays as needed. We are dedicated and expect you to be as well. Resourceful and creative.Ability to work unsupervised while maintaining rigorous safety and quality standards.Extreme attention to detail, as well as strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple processes at one time.
Self-motivated with exceptional time-management skills.Ability to effectively communicate with staff throughout the organization. Physical strength and agility are necessary with the ability to lift 100+ lbs repeatedly and perform all required tasks in the brewery without issue. Have a passion for the craft beer industry and for making great beer. This is a must.
