Pohjala brewery in Tallinn, Estonia is searching for a Head Brewer and a Lead brewer.
Releasing our first beers 2013, Pohjala have since become known worldwide for our dark and barrel aged beers, whilst also producing an excellent core range of lagers, IPAs, and sours.
Currently we brew on a 50hl Rolec system, and can/bottle/keg with extensive cellaring operations

We are looking for a Head Brewer to lead Pohjala's legendary production team. Position is based in Tallinn, Estonia.
Previous experience in commercial brewing is a must, leading production expansion projects preferably in a similar size or bigger brewery is an added plus.
The suitable candidate is highly organized, with a high standard of cleanliness and a reliable and ambitious team leader.
Good command of English is required (speaking Estonian is not a must but a plus).
The Head Brewer will maintain an overall view of the bigger picture of production — ensuring that the brand evolves meaningfully and in the direction agreed with board.Work with sales & production team to create yearly release calendarsHost regular meetings with sales to discuss feedback on new releases and discuss improvements or feedback on core range beersOrganize and lead collaborative projects between other breweries, venues, and brandsPlan, assist in ordering, installing, and commissioning on new production equipment to grow the businessRun regular production meetings and addressing issues brought up by production teamDesign recipes and work with sales and creative team to develop recipesWork with sales to create descriptive texts for beer releasesWork with production manager in ordering and sourcing of raw materialsConstantly test and researching new ingredients and processes to improve existing beers or create new onesWork with lab team and production manager to diagnose issues of quality, and agree on a path forwardEnsure adequate training of brewing and cellar teams on equipment, general good practices, and new proceduresWork with production manager and lead brewer to ensure optimal day to day running of productionManage an effective production team, keeping morale and engagement high and performing regular employee reviewsCreate and maintaining meaningful relationships with key suppliers and partners and representing the brand on a professional levelNegotiate with suppliers to conclude long term hop contracts appropriate to productionAttend international and national events (festivals, tap takeovers, etc) and representing the brandKeep an eye on overall production data and ensure that we remain on track in KPIsOversee and manage output yields and overall efficiency with production and company management to ensure results, work with production team and lead brewer to implement measures to increase these where possibleMake hiring decisions for the production team, including writing job descriptions, interviewing prospective applicants, and onboarding them

Position is based in Tallinn, Estonia.

Lead brewer will, among other thingsCheck anomalous reports of production - eg issues with brewing or cellaringEnsure brewing and cellar logs are being accurately filled and updating these to ensure a constantly usable formatOversee development, implementation, training, and updating of brewing and cellar SOPsIdentify and implement opportunities to improve product quality, increase output yields, or optimise production flowManage production staff scheduling and production scheduling (rota, daily plans)Implement ideas or solving issues brought up by Production team or production managementWork with production manager in managing brewing and cellar team to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly objectives and targetsWork with head brewer to adapt recipes where needed to hit brand targetsEnsure brewing and cellar software is kept up to date and fit for recipe/process purposesPerform production roles as required - potentially taking up 50% of the role
