SanTan Brewing Company is looking for a Production Brewer to join our team in Chandler, AZ.
Located in the Phoenix metro’s East Valley, SanTan was founded in 2007 in downtown Chandler, where we continue to operate a 15-bbl brewery & restaurant in our original location. In 2013, we added a production facility with a 50-bbl brewhouse, where we package beer in both cans and draft. SanTan branched out into distilled spirits in 2017 and is now Arizona’s largest distillery in addition to our brewery.
The Production Brewer will report to the Head Brewer and join a team of 20+ production staff. The brewing team typically operates between 5a – 11:30p, rotating through opening, mid, and closing shifts. Brewers also move between brewhouse and cellar duties, as well as taking turns on a weekend duty roster with the rest of the brewing team. ResponsibilitiesCommunicate and treat fellow co-workers and other members of the SanTan team with respectAdhere to a “Safety Always” mindset and comply with safety policies & programsApproach every task with quality in mind, paying attention to detail & accuracyOperate a 50-bbl brewhouse (milling, mashing, lautering, proper gravities, etc.)Operate a centrifuge with maximum attention to clarity, yield, and carbonationYeast management (harvesting, pitching, and counts/viabilities)Fermentation tank management (sanitary technique, gravity checks, trub dumps, dry-hopping, etc.)CIP/Sanitization on all vessels (fermenters, heat exchanger, mash tun, kettle, centrifuge, and brite beer tanks)Participate in sensory evaluation panelsMaintain a clean and organized workspace in accordance with food safety regulationsEnsure that the paper work and associated reporting is done accurately and on timeRaw ingredient receiving/managementMaintain an inventory of raw materials & brewery suppliesTroubleshooting, technical maintenance, and quality assuranceUnderstand and be able to assist other departments when neededQualificationsExperience troubleshooting in complex and time-sensitive environmentsMechanical aptitude and a basic understanding of mechanical systemsStrong technical knowledge of brewing, fermentation and the finishing stage of beer production1+ years in the brewing industry (preferred) or a related fieldFermentation/Brewing degree or certificate from an accredited program (preferred)Flexible work schedule - available to work all shifts, additional hours & weekends as necessaryAll employees are expected to be able to:Maintain a strong focus on quality, safety and efficiency, constantly evaluating work practices in the spirit of “always improving.”Communicate effectively and openly with team members Work in a factory environment which may be loud, hot, humid, or have wet/slippery floorsMulti-task and follow standard operating proceduresManipulate valves and clampsUse measuring & diagnostic equipment (e.g. pH meters, microscopes, dissolved oxygen meters, etc.)Bend, crawl, twist, turn, lift, kneel, climb ladders and stairsStand for prolonged periodsWork safely with chemicals of varying composition, including wearing personal protection equipment such as gloves and gogglesSafely work at height on ladders and elevated platformsSafely work in and around confined spacesOperate a pallet jack and complete forklift certificationRegularly lift/carry heavy objects (55 lbs.) repeatedly and safely above waist-levelOccasionally move heavy objects (165 lbs.)Benefits and Compensation
The Production Brewer position is a full-time role with a pay scale between $35,000 - $55,000, depending on experience.
