We are looking for an Electrical Specialist in Tampa, FL to oversee start-up, shutdown and changeover of equipment as needed by operations. The purpose of this position is to effectively, efficiently and safely meet all job requirements, abilities, accountabilities and goals as directed by the Maintenance Manager. Job Responsibilities:
• Effectively complete preventive and proactive maintenance per the schedule to prevent breakdowns on equipment.
• Utilize root-cause analysis skills to investigate breakdowns and line stoppages while collaborating with other departments.
• Respond immediately when a line stops operating and assure that the appropriate mechanical help is on site to correct any problems quickly using electrical and/or mechanical skills.
• Prioritize work to ensure timely maintenance, repair and installation of equipment, tools and utility systems to minimize manufacturing downtime, and complete all required paperwork and documentation in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Repair or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment including inspection, assembly, disassembly, and replacement as necessary.
• Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions using voltmeters or other testing devices.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair components of processing equipment such as fillers, labelers, packers, and palletizers.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair both control and high voltage electrical equipment, computer-driven equipment controls, and communication systems.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair product process equipment, such as pasteurizers, brewing equipment, and support equipment.
• Start-up/shutdown/changeover equipment as needed by operations.
Maintain appropriate records of machine changes.
• Report downtime, problem areas and needed repairs to the Maintenance Manager.
• Perform routine maintenance activities according to the maintenance schedule. Where routine maintenance reveals larger problems and the packaging craftsperson CM is unable to resolve these, escalate to the Maintenance Manager to facilitate assistance as needed.
• Provide input to the maintenance planning process.
• Participate in maintenance post mortems to feedback problems, opportunities and discoveries from maintenance activities.
• Monitor trends when conducting routine maintenance. Where trends indicate the existence of underlying problems, corrective action must be taken which may involve a team.
• Self-initiate continuous improvement activities related to equipment reliability and performance.
• Continuously make improvements to the line for safety, quality and speed concerns.
• Complete electrical inspections as assigned.
• Ensure needed parts are placed on order with the Maintenance Planner.
• Immediately respond to any calls made by the Packaging Lead, Packaging Manager or Maintenance Manager.
• Must perform other duties as required by the immediate supervisor.
Job Tasks and Requirements:
• Considerable knowledge of the principles of electricity, functions and operations of electrical equipment, and materials and tools used in the maintenance and repair of electrical equipment.
• Working knowledge of electrical industry standards and National Electrical Code.
• Skill in the use and care of electrical testing, diagnostic, and repairing equipment.
• Thorough understanding of installation and proven troubleshooting skills of single and 3phase (240-480V) electrical systems, 24-120V control systems, and their components such as motors, vfd’s, transformers, relays, contactors, starters, servo drive components, servo motors, encoders, and control/power panel components.
• Ability to use electrical schematics, ladder logic, and plc’s to troubleshoot and diagnose manufacturing equipment such as fillers, labelers, packers, and palletizers.
• Ability to install and make program operating changes in a beverage prep or manufacturing (production line) environment as needed, such as timing changes, pressure/temperature operating levels, speed references, PID loops, & operating sequence.
• Technical aptitude & skills in PLC Process Control systems (Rockwell Automation Products, Modicon, Citect).
• Understanding of basic computer networking.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a fast paced environment.
