You want to build a widow maker huh? It's cheaper to install an element directly into the side of a kettle.

Please tell me that the ground wire is connected to something metal on it and that you're plugging it into a GFCI outlet.

It’s a metal upper, plastic lower. I know the ground is on the metal, but can’t recall how. I need that old thread…
