Hi all.
I have found adding bicarbonate of soda in the bulbulator lol (the plastic S thing you put in your lid ofyour fermenter with water that goes bul bul ever couple of second) reduces the smell of yeast in the house.
Give it a shot.Last edited by Captain Clyde on Thu Nov 03, 2022 8:17 am, edited 1 time in total.Jacketed boiler. 3” column, dephlegmator and a bunch of shipmates.
Oh and instead of water, try using super strong coffee. A delightful espresso aroma to awaken to in the morning to arouse the senses.
You could just add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to your water if you want too.
I do huge batches, and love experimenting with different consistencies and tiny beads in the bulbulator (airlock). I have a personal orchestra one could say..Jacketed boiler. 3” column, dephlegmator and a bunch of shipmates.
Why would you want to mask the best smell in the world?
Nothing better than the smell of a good healthy ferment.
Now if you can find a way to get rid of the smell of backset when I open and drain my rig, you'll have my full attention

Depends on the necessity for Situational Awareness. Some fellow hobbyists brew with flat mates that perhaps don’t find the sweetness as appealing.
Always good to have options me thinks ladsJacketed boiler. 3” column, dephlegmator and a bunch of shipmates.
Fair. I am lucky that SWMBO also enjoys my hobby (if not as much the time I spend on it lol). She allows me to ferment and still in our bedroom.- New users start here

hmm, now see to each his own, to me backset is liquid gold and smells like winning.
also different yeasts and ferments obviously smell different.
the banana honey ferment with 1118 yeast I am doing now smells far less "yeasty" than my typical AG with DADY or bakers yeast mashes. Now those smell like a brewery. The banana smells delicious. A sharp co2 smell if you get you head near the top of course. It does smell like champagne to me...
A little noodling on the guitar with the yeasties bubbling away. Ahhh, that’s the lifeFreedom had been hunted round the globe; reason was considered as rebellion; and the slavery of fear had made men afraid to think. But such is the irresistible nature of truth, that all it asks, and all it wants, is the liberty of appearing.
