Position Summary
The Operations Manager for Hammer & Stitch Brewing Co is responsible for all day-to-day business operations. They will work closely with the Taproom Manager, Kitchen Manager, Sales Manager and Brewmaster. All H&S Managers will report to the Operations Manager. Operations Manager reports to the Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities
Taproom Operations:
• Oversee all aspects of front and back of house operations for the Taproom.
• Work with Managers to manage menus, inventory and ordering
• Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to the health, safety and labor requirements of the tap room, employees, and guests
• Provide human resource guidance and policy implementation
• Supervise any Taproom or Kitchen maintenance needed
• Ensure special events are properly staffed and executed
Brewery product operations:
• Assist Brewmaster and Sales Manager with beer production schedules and making recommendations based on market trends
• Assist Brewmaster with canning and order fulfillment as needed
• Assist Brewmaster with Taproom-related logistics
Sales, Marketing & Administrative:
• Oversee all day-to-day business, commercial and marketing operations to drive the overall Strategy
• Provide leadership to Sales Manager, including goal setting, training, coaching, development, motivation, and correction (as needed)
• Work with Sales Manager to build, communicate, execute, and review sales and marketing initiatives with distributor partners
• Determine and implement marketing strategy to enhance wholesale and Taproom sales
• Delegate marketing tasks as needed
• Analyze monthly profit and loss statements for accuracy and areas for improvement
• Forecasting monthly revenues and expenses to ensure the cash flow demands are met
• Maintain policies and procedures for controlling cash and segregation of duties
• Ensure bi-weekly payroll is processed
• Lead weekly Manager meetings and assign tasks as necessary
General
• Communicate and embody the company ethos of Fun, Soul and Grit; as well as bring energy, empathy and an entrepreneurial approach
• Create a safe, positive, and productive working environment by taking an active role in managing and developing staff and making employment decisions for the team
• Assess performance and produce plans for improvement as needed, utilizing data and metrics
to measure performance
• Provide leadership to Managers in regards to bringing on or terminating employees. Ensure all human resource-related issues are resolved and filed appropriately
• Provide Board of Directors with bi-weekly project status reports. Schedule and attend monthly Board Meetings as staff representative
• Additional responsibilities as agreed to with BOD
Requirements
• 5+ years in similar management capacity, preferably within the brewing and beverage industry
• 3+ years managing teams
• Excellent at building and maintaining business relationships
• Results-driven
• Effective communicator
• Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a balanced and flexible work schedule
• Must be at least 21 years of age
Skills/Qualifications
• Proficient in relevant business tools (i.e. Google suite, Quickbooks, Microsoft Excel, and basic knowledge of POS)
• Strong financial acumen, including budget management, expense control, forecasting and analysis of financial statements
