Job Summary: The Mechanical Engineer oversees operations, maintenance, and optimization of all utility systems to ensure safe, regulatory compliant, and efficient operation. This position is also responsible for development and management of utility expansion, and optimization projects. Existing systems include treated, potable, and wastewater systems, glycol chillers, boilers, air compressors, power generation and transmission systems, and bulk gases. This position supports production and engineering goals and acts as the liaison between the two departments so that the plant is successful in meeting its business and performance objectives. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Specifically, the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following activities:Troubleshoot process and equipment problems by identifying and analyzing malfunctions, determining causes of problems, and developing and implementing corrective actionRecommend and implement system improvement modifications and processes to improve productivity, product quality, employee safety, and to maximize equipment reliability, availability, and up-timeMaintain plant property and equipment in good working condition to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and to ensure effective and economical operationsDevelop and implement continuous improvement initiatives throughout utility systems to increase or maintain equipment capacity and reliabilityAssist in development of metrics for monitoring improvements to current and future production levelsWork with plant maintenance department for scheduling of required service workHelp design a good preventative maintenance plan for all utility systemsPerform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications:4-year Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in Engineering or related field2 - 3 years minimum experience in manufacturing or utilities fieldStrong mechanical and controls troubleshooting aptitudesData acquisition and analysis with MS Excel or similar skills are requiredFamiliarity with automation software and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systemsStrong organization and communication skills, verbally and in writingAbility to operate machinery, lifts, fork trucks, and work with various toolsBasic ability to troubleshoot low-voltage electrical componentryStrong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, precise, and reproducible dataAbility to operate in a team and multitask in a fast-paced environmentSelf-motivated attitude with ability to take initiative, act promptly, and be proactiveAbility to use a PC and proficient in Microsoft Office suite with a willingness to learn new applicationsAbility to develop new and unique ideasAbility to anticipate future consequences and trends accurately and create effective strategies and plans What Firestone Walker Offers:
