Hi all
we have recently seen Sulfur develop in a batch of lager in kegs - which is not present in cans from the same batch when retention samples checked.
was fine in tank and no sign of refermentation - ph and grav rock solid against pre-pack values.
all points to something in the keg cleaning/filling process - we use a two head cleaner single head filler - but am at a loss as to what might have happened to result in the Sulfur - it is pretty rank - rotten egg like and unpleasant - something I would usually associate with stressed ferment - but the small pack is clean.
would appreciate any insights anyone might have.
thanks
brendo
Plate the final rinse of the keg to look for hidden micro. Also, plate the beer coming from your single head filler. Those aren't worth the metal they're made of IMO.
