Hi all,
Wondering if anyone has used 'Rolled & COATED Barley' before...
I saw this at the animal feed place.

Unmalted I'm guessing. The 'oil' factor is also throwing me off but the added molasses has me intrigued.
Would love to know more details on the product but the feed store really don't like distillers. Hung up on me twice!
Anyone out there ever used/tried it before?
Cheers.

Might depend on the amount of oil. Read/Saw somewhere that butter/oil can be used in fermentation similar to distillation - in controlling boilovers - so tried it with the stuff I'm currently fermenting and everything seems to be happy and going as expected. I used about two tablespoons of butter in about 12L of wash

You can add butter or oil to the boiler , never heard of anybody adding oil to the fermenter

Shame it is not branded as that would enable you to get a specs sheet on what is in it.
Obviously they don’t sell on commission as a sale is a sale

"Low oxygen" beer brewers add olive oil to their fermenation as a substitute for oxygenating their wort /wash.
Thr brulosophy guys did an experiment on it.
Who knows what oil you have though???

Buy rolled barely - (try a different store?)
Add your own molly
Do remember what we do is illegal,  civic/social morality of the feed place's employees aside, perhaps they don't want to be held liable for you consuming animal grade produce ? We know we are 99.999% ok using it, they dont

@ Welsey
It's from Lauke Mills which is a chain of animal feed places. Unfortunately they were not very helpful and couldn't give me any specs on it.
@ RC Al
Wish I could. Small piss-ant town in the middle of nowhere.

I've added it to my grain bill and have it in a 60L fermenter. Let's see how this goes...

1.065 SG which I'm very happy with. Time will tell if the oils have any effect on the ferment.
Happy to update when the time comes.
