Wayfinder is a lager-centric brewery and restaurant located in the Central Eastside Industrial District of Portland, Oregon and is committed to making compelling and clean lagers and ales.
Although a brewpub, we’re looking for a production-minded, technical lager brewer. Ideal candidates will have a college degree in a field of science, a degree from a brewing school such as the Siebel Institute and 4+ years working in a production brewery that focuses on German lager beer or other European-focused beer styles. A minimum of 3-5 years of brewery management experience is required.

Job Description:
The Brewmaster will be responsible for all aspects of the beer production process and day-to-day operations of the brewery. This will be a high-level role involved in many different tasks including hiring/managing other brewers, making purchasing decisions, creating new styles of beer, setting and meeting production goals, and managing resources.
Job Responsibilities:Responsible for all brewing functions, including grain handling, yeast management, transfers, and wort production on a 4-vessel JVNW brewhouse, which includes a decoction kettle/cereal cookerExecute full cellar duties across a cellar consisting of plate and frame filter, 11 FV’s, and 3 BBTsDesign, develop and improve core and seasonal brands within the scope of the Wayfinder’s visionControl costs and manage profitability by following budget guidelinesBuild and implement all brewery SOPs, including but not limited to brewery, cellar, packaging, draft systems, and facilities maintenanceHire, train, lead, develop, and manage all brewery production employees.Maintain supply chains with raw material vendors including all hop and malt contractsMaintain rigorous inventory control measuresMaintain and develop high levels of quality control and quality assuranceAct as a brand ambassador for media, consumers, suppliers, beer trade associations and other businessesWork directly with marketing team to launch new brandsWork directly with sales team for production planning and forecastingWrite beer training materials for front-of-house staffPromote and enforce a safe working environment and meet all regulatory compliance standardsDeep understanding of, or ability to learn, Ekos brewing softwareMaintain compliance with all relevant local, state and federal organizationsAttend events to promote brand with retail and wholesale customers, as neededThis is a full time position and it’s expected to include nights and weekends as necessary
