Havoc Brewing Company will be launching our flagship brewery and taproom in the heart of downtown Pittsboro, NC in February 2023.
Havoc Brewing Company will be located at 39 West Street, in the recently completed SoCo Development adjacent to downtown Pittsboro’s iconic courthouse circle. Our property consists of a 6,400 square foot taproom area that will seat approximately 300, with an adjacent 2,500 square feet brewing and production space. The combined 8,900 square feet space features large glass garage doors, large windows allowing for sight lines into the brewery, an expansive patio accommodating an additional 300 patrons during temperate weather, and an outdoor stage for live music and entertainment.

Job purpose
Our taproom is the heart and soul of Havoc Brewing Company. Beyond just a place where people can gather for their favorite beer, our taproom will be a community-building space, a vehicle for craft beer education, a comfortable place for people to get work done, and the place where they can experience the Havoc brand in its fullness. We have high expectations for our taproom: from the service they receive, the beer they drink, and the experiences they share with friends and neighbors, we aim to create an iconic experience in craft beer. To this end, our Taproom Manager will build a team of servers who are as passionate about craft beer and people as we are.
As our Taproom Manager, you will have the freedom to choose, train, manage, and lead your team, while helping us shape the final stages of what our taproom experience will be.
The Taproom Manager will be responsible for ensuring that our patron’s experience of Havoc Brewing Company is nothing short of exceptional. Your success will be measured by appropriately staffing our taproom and events, by ensuring that our servers have everything they need to serve our patrons successfully and efficiently, by facilitating a taproom environment that is comfortable and entertaining, by safeguarding our product by only serving beers at their absolute best, and by anticipating contingencies before they arise. You will be working in a management-level capacity and will be expected to participate and contribute to the overall management and success of Havoc Brewing Company.
Duties and responsibilities
The Taproom Manager is responsible for the following:Interview/Hire/Train new ServersCreating and communicating the daily schedule for taproom ServersOpening and closing the taproom (setting up and closing cash drawers, ensuring that the taproom is clean and ready for patrons, restocking/ordering any necessary supplies, addressing any unforeseen needs)Ensuring that the beers on tap are acceptable to serve (right temperature, optimal quality) and that the tap system is clean, maintained, and functioning in optimal conditions.Tirelessly making sure that taproom patrons’ needs are met quickly and efficientlyCreating and maintaining a pleasant taproom environment (temperature, music, cleanliness, conduct)Planning and executing special events in the taproom and on the patioWorking with the owners and marketing department to properly market the taproomManaging food truck schedule, catering (for special events), and creating and maintaining relationships with local food establishments that deliver to the taproom.Maintaining accurate taproom inventory (glassware, crowlers, merch, etc.)Stepping in as a Server and/or beer educator as neededWorking towards continuous optimization of taproom operationsServing as team leader to staff of taproom ServersServing as a brand ambassador
QualificationsMust be 21+ years of age and available to work full-time, 40 hours/week, including occasional nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.Prior bar / restaurant management experience or prior taproom / bartending experienceKnowledge of craft beer, or a strong willingness to learn (Cicerone Certified Beer Server preferred, training available)Excellent communication and organizational skillsExceptional customer service skillsAttention to detail and ability to multitaskAbility to anticipate and proactively address problems in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrated leadershipPositive attitude and ability to work with a diverse set of peopleBasic familiarity with tablet-based POS systems and other web-based / MS Office softwareAbility to lift 35-50 lbsAptitude for and desire to learn the mechanical workings of taproom equipment in order to address problems quickly and efficiently
Working conditions
This position requires an individual who works under a range of circumstances, including shift work, weekend work, working with challenging patrons, working in the fast-paced environment of a crowded taproom, and working within proximity of an operating brewery (noise, heavy equipment, odors related to the brewing process).
Physical requirements
This position generally involves continuous standing, frequent walking, moderate to heavy lifting, moderate to heavy carrying, frequent bending and reaching, climbing of ladders, and in-person communication. Our Taproom Manager may also be required to lift boxes 35-50 lbs and move empty / full kegs with the help of a dolly.
