Hi all,
I just asked the OpenAI chatbot to create an all-grain IPA recipe (see screenshots). Not at all perfect, but I’m impressed with what it instantly generated, and at a beta stage.
Someday I’m sure AI will produce better recipes, but I’m interested in engaging AI as an assistant with an immense repository of knowledge & calculating power. I could see myself asking questions like, “Would doing x with y create z outcome in fermentation?” Or “What would be the effects of lowering the mash temp on x recipe by 2-degrees Fahrenheit?”
Once the kinks are worked out, AI could be a valuable brewers’ tool, whether for the home-brewer or professional

The screenshots in #1 show a chatty blend of new brewer information, incomplete ingredient lists, and incomplete process steps.

Yeah, not great recipe, as I wrote, that’s not what I’m interested in tho. Prefer to make my own

FWIW: there are a couple of similar topics at /r/homebrewing.

Like human assistants, AI generally won't labor/think/calculate on your specific problems for free. Plan accordingly.
