Hello everyone.
I am new here, sort of…
I grew up in Kentucky, had a crazy itch to learn to make my own whiskey at a very young age. Put together a pure sugar wash

and tried to run it in my very poorly self designed cooking pot/copper line “still”. Came out horrible of course, but nevertheless, I was hooked on the hobby from the process. Not long later I was gifted a proper 6 gallon all copper still/thumper for my birthday, add a worm condenser and things start getting better.
At some point I find the Artisan Distiller forums as well as this site. I’ve lurked on both and read/learned a ton. Fast forward sometime 2012 or so, I used pintoshines plans to build my own copper still. I’ve ran many generations and batches of UJSSM style wash’s mostly, and have tried a few other ideas.
Things got serious at work and with the family so I took some time off. I moved to Central Florida a couple years ago and things slowed down a bit so I was able to get back into things. Still using this site for all the wisdom shared.
I recently upgraded my LP fired boiler to a 15.5g keg and added a 28” 1/2 in 3/4 Liebig, using plastic 55 gallon open top lemon juice drums for fermenting, and we are doing well now.
Anyway, after lurking and using the forum for years without giving back, I figured it was about time to introduce myself
Thanks ac
On the burner and blocks right now, after a failed caster mount job. Taking another swing at casters this week.
The open flame makes me uncomfortable. I have electric in mind, but have to make a run from the panel to my shed, so I’m still debating/calculating wattage. I want to be sure I go as big as I can now so I don’t have to do it twice.Attachments
