Hi all
It's been a good while since I posted the build thread of my CCVM still with all the invaluable help from the lovely friendly guys on this forum.
I managed to get a vinegar run done during the last Xmas holidays and the still got plugged and stored again, not to see the light of day for another year!
Well, I had time and a dry day today, so out she came!
I added some really chunky insulation around the column and some also to the boiler walls to help reduce heat loss.
This definitely helps as the outside of the insulation stays cool even at full boil.

Got her up to full boil and started the water pump as product started to drip from the end of the Dimroth.
I ran in "Reflux" for a few minutes to really get everything full, then raised the RC and lowered the heat input to get a slow stream, then had a bit of a play around with RC position and heat for a while, to get a feel for my still.
All in all I'm very happy with how the cleaning run went, I got a bit more familiar with my still and with what it does, and got to smell and taste (Only a tiny bit!) the output.
I tested proof of the litre or so that I collected and actually managed 88% alcohol, without actually trying to attain high proof, just messing about, so I feel that the still design is really sound and will give me really high proof neutral when I'm good enough to run her right.Make Booze, not War!
