Hi all
Ive been doing uncle jessies rice mash.
All has gone ok sofar but i have a question about the amalease.
So the stuff i bought came from the internet(Amazon).
I bought alfa glucose and there was a milky white one ive left alone.
My question is can i put tomuch of it in in one go?
I comes in little packets and states its enough for 100ltrs but theres only approximately a full pipette amont in the bag so i cant messure or retain whats left.
Im curious cuz ive just checked the mash with the hope of distilling this eve it looks ok tastes like flat beer but is still showing 1.09 specific grav. And its laying the abv checker nearly flat.
I have pitched some more yeast in to try to 2nd ferment and see how that works but wonder if i haven cocked it up.
Many thanks for any insite and pointers to try and get it right.
I should have pointed out im doing 25ltr mash.
And it was alfa and glucose amalease.
Is there a better place to get it.
Thnks

It was some other enzyme the write up that came with tjem was a bit poor to say the least it apparently works at 90'c and is a milky white the small bag its in holds aout a pipette  full of the stuff.
It confused the nuts out of me so i left it alone.
I bought some alfamyleze and glucoamyleze but think im using to much and sabotaging my own wash due to putting to much in.
I do 25ltrs at a time and this is ment to be good for 100ltrs each time.

This is what is confusing me. Are you saying that the hydrometer is laying on top of the mash?Use all your senses, and its not that hard. You just have to pay attention.
Procrastinate, you'll make better whiskey.

If the hydrometer is reading 1.09 then it is definantley not done.
Is the alcometer laying flat, I think this is due to the hydrometer reading 1.09 if that makes sense" you can pick your nose and you can pick your friends; but you can't always wipe your friends off on your saddle" sage advice from Kinky Friedman
